Montana Wheat Whiskey

Several weeks ago now, we released our Montana Wheat Whiskey. We are so excited to expand our line of products while staying true to our roots. We value using ingredients we grow in our own backyard. Or at least the fields behind our yard. For many years, Dave grew barley, selling it to large brewing companies such as Anheuser-Busch. He also grew spring wheat for more than 2 decades. This farming experience combined with the distilling knowledge led to our Montana Wheat Whiskey.

Montana is known for many things, one of them being wheat production. It is home to many bread companies such as Montana Wheat Bread and Big Sky Bread Company, as well as other grain products. The conditions allow for hearty winter wheat and spring wheat and we wanted to feature it as the primary grain of our new spirit. While we love our rums and pretending we live somewhere a little more tropical, we are proud to call the Big Sky State home, and whiskey felt like an appropriate tribute. The whiskey is sweet but rugged, just like the Treasure State.

Montana Wheat Whiskey is crafted from 100% locally grown ingredients as always at Wholly Spirits. In this case, it’s a hard red spring wheat, with barley as a secondary grain. It is distilled using a triple pot method and aged in oak barrels. It has a subtle sweetness, commonly found in wheat-based whiskies. Its flavor profile can be described as sweet and mellow, with a hint of smokiness. It is easy to drink neat, on the rocks, or in delicious cocktails. It can be purchased in our store or online for $25 each or in our Bar Cart Head Start Kit along with our white, spiced, and coconut rums for $80 total. Offer valid through May 31st.
